So no race but practice on both days? Why not practice on Saturday and racing on Sunday? Heat is part of our sport. Especially in the summer. Make Sundays practice start at 6am. Racing starts at 7:30. Run 4 laps per moto if you are worried about the heat. Lets get this spring(now summer)series over with....!!!

U set a race schedule and we all plan to race that weekend, a week before you cancel. So other things we have scheduled around the race just to make sure the kids get to race and now nothing! The heat is part of the sport. Basically a kid that wants race time around here cant get it. This is whats pushing people to move away and another reason our turn outs are not what they used to be. They don't cancel football or baseball games when it is hot. So you have a kid that wants to be a racer reno is not the place to be.

But there is also economics involved with holding races. I am sure Club MX775 is concerned with cost of water for the event. Or possible low turnout. Both are part of the the risk with the sport. They run a pretty tight margin of profit. But yes, heat is part of this sport just like any other sport played in the summer. So Cal does not cancel races due to the heat. We will have to wait for Club MX775 to tell us why they decided to cancel before we make assumptions.

I am just trying to put what I had to say out incase others are the same. My son wants me to get him out and practice and race. He wants to put all attention on racing and said no football or any thing else.

Another thing to consider. There are a lot of people that are getting ready to bump. Example is my buddy. He has one more point to go from Beg to Junior. So it only makes sense that in the Fall Series he will bump him self so he can race all Fall series races as a Junior. But now by combining the last spring and first fall series race he would have to race both 30 Beg and 30 Junior. But those classes usually run together. So how does he do that??? If he races his last 30 beg race. He will get bumped into the JR class by next race and have already missed one JR race for the fall series.
Stead was canceled to work with the scheduling conflict with Exit 28. Winnemucca was snowed out and had a double weekend race which killed it for many that could not make that weekend. Now our last scheduled spring series race is pushed out. The only logical thing to do is call it, award the trophies, and move on. It really does not matter the reason the race was canceled. We need to start fresh in the Fall for points reasons and to put this series in the books. See you guys this Tuesday at the meeting.....

A couple of things Dave. The SMRA spring series ended with the last event. This would have been a stand alone event with no bump points. I know when 2 series are run together, it can get a little confusing. One very important thing that has not been mentioned here yet. There may not be enough people around this time of year to even put on an event. I know I can't help with this one. I can't get the time off of work. Plus I have to work next Saturday to cover for a co-worker that is on vacation until the 15th. So I know they will be looking for a water truck driver.

I am sure there are a lot of things going on that may have caused the race to be moved forward. And yes the two race series running together did get a little hard to keep track of.

What do you guys want? ?? That is what mx775 asked. I think we all wanted to race. So why did they ask when they just changed it on us to practice only. Thanks for wasting are weekend. There were a lot of factors that went into this decision. • Summer entry counts. Typically during the summer months families are focusing on other types of vacations, (Disneyland, boating, family reunions, summer camps) this usually reduces the rider count by at least 40%. The June race had just over 150 racers (that is down from Aprils 190) and a 40% reduction would put us at about 90 riders. This would result in a loss even if we cut our staffing down to the bare minimum. • Night race. This was planned to be a night race hoping that we could overcome the typical loss of riders by introducing the cooler temps. There was a deal worked out with another promoter to share light plants for this event in an effort to reduce each other’s costs. This agreement was not fulfilled and a substantial amount more money was required from the other promoter. The full cost of moving, insuring, fueling and rental of the lights for 1 event would make this event very difficult financially break even. There are mixed instruction from the City of Fernley and the Lions County Sheriff’s office. One group says there are not time/noise restrictions and the other says they would shut us down if there are any complaints from the residences. Since the last time there was a night race at the Fern the police shut it down this presents a difficult situation. • Staffing IssuesMany of our crew has scheduled other things to be doing. This is very frustrating on our part since this schedule has been set for 6 months. Currently we are short 3 Flaggers, transport for the Dozer, 2 water truck drivers, 3 of the gals from the sign up bus, announcer, 1 Starting gate person and 1 front gate cashier. These challenges can be overcome, but the level of customer service the racers have come to expect would not be available while training new people. Only doing a practice gives the new people a chance to learn and understand their new roles. • The level of interest from this post. We can see the number of views and the number of people who have posted or contacted us directly, and with only 34 people weighing in it shows me that there is not enough interest to justify the risk of putting on a race to only have 50 people show up. The matter of ending the series is worthy of discussion. I don't have a problem with ending the series now, but the club members will need to vote on this at the meeting. The series points are posted at www.clubmx775.com

It is hard to see the challenges involved in putting on races until you try to take part in the organizing. I hope everyone who wants better for the sport in our area considers getting involved.
