Trying to get a poll on what the most popular bike(s) are out at the track/trails. Tell me what you got!
Me: 2009 KTM 450 XC-F and 2009 YZ 250F
This is primarily for a college/business related project but also thought it would be neat to for everyone to see the statistics on what years and manufacturers are on top of the local scene.

I haven't ridden all the boots, or even half the boots, but I can give my pennies on what I have ridden....Back in the late 90's early 00's I rode with alpinestars, tech...6 or 7 at the time. Not the top of the line, the next below. I liked them a lot, they were a good boot, durable, and comfortable. After the alpinestars I rode fox F3's, I liked them as well, they felt very similar to the alpinestars but for a lot less money. They were a little "roomy" in spots and slightly bulky, but at the time I didn't notice. I say at the time because I recently bought a new set of boots and opted for top of the line for once. I tried on a lot of different brands, gearne, alpinestar, fox, basically everything that the local shops had. I went with the Fox instincts and let me tell you....Wow! There is a huge difference between the top of the line and the next level down. These have been the most comfortable boots I have ever ridden with. Where the other boots felt like boots, the instincts felt like a shoe, more fitting and comfortable to ride in, sleek and slender feel, and overall better quality. I love my Fox boots and would recommend them to anyone.
Now I'd never ridden or even tried on SiDi so I can't attest to anything about them, but out of the Gearne, alpinestar, and Fox I felt most comfortable in the Fox.

Man moto has dropped off hard in Reno. I haven't been riding much in the past year but I haven't seen much about racing all year. I feel like 2 years ago I was racing or practicing every weekend. What happened Reno??? Is moto even alive anymore? Is there a spring series?

The first step is trying to find a race. Seems like racing in the area has become a bit of a white Rhino. Second, what I would do, I show up to a race, complete with a roll of electrical tape (or tape of your choice), go to sign up and ask what numbers are available. Nothing sucks more than picking out your favorite number and showing up finding out that 3 other people already have that number (and as a result you have to change yours). Don't waste money, find out the available numbers before you buy. Shoot I ran an electrical tape number for a whole season and I wasn't even a beginner! Anyway, after that's figured out go to your fav shop and purchase numbers, backgrounds, and any other shiny go fast parts you want. Check out organizations websites for information on their racing schedules and rule/req's. Livfast has a webpage, SMRA used to (idk if they exist anymore), the guys over the hill have plenty of sites. Research.... Most of all, just show up with a good attitude and ready to have fun (also money, they tend to want that in exchange for racing). Also, if you haven't already, I highly recommend attending a few practices before you race. This will let you adapt to being on a track with multiple people, understanding racing lines, and most of all keeping yourself, and everyone around you, safe. Pick a line, stick to it. If you're not jumping stick to the edges, the center of the track is usually the most dangerous, if you're not ready for bangin bars, stick to the edges.

I cannot find a price for this. Although it probably doesn't matter cuz I'm sure it's far too expensive for my blood

Well thanks Layne. Im a numbers person so at quick glance of logic and I know logical people are now the minority, I would have said sg 12s in size 10 in one sentence. That would cover all lookers not familiar with every name of every boot while speed reading ads. This would be much better than cutting the toe off so they fit. good day. Ron USA. This irks me...

I know the differences on paper, looking more for experience lol. Factory Connection is a WP authorized servicer so I'm looking at them. I hear the "cone" greatly improves the front suspension. But I think its greatly expensive too. I'm wondering is converting to the newer gas tank will save weight and make the bike feel smaller (yes it's possible). Hmmmm

Also as an alternative does anyone have a recommendation for someone who is GREAT with WP suspension?

I was wondering if anyone has opinions on the older KTM 450 Vs the new, I.e. I have a 2009 450XCF and am looking to get a newer FI bike. A lot of the reason is weight, I love my current bike, crazy power, reliable, but as I said it's a little heavy. Do the new bikes "feel" lighter? Is the suspension better (mine is pretty rough on chop). Also do the newer ones turn better? If anyone can give me the rundown on the differences and their opinion that would be greatly appreciated. Just wanna make sure its worth the $$ to upgrade.
Current bike specs: 2009 KTM 450 XCF 19" Rear rim Slip on Exhaust Shorai Battery (for weight reduction) Other than that the old gal is pretty much stock (as far as weight/power/suspension)
Thanks!
