Just got back from Mammoth and I had a ton of emails on the Mustangmx.com site regarding the "Independence Bash". It looks like it's going to be a really good turn out! Most of the emails are coming from California riders saying it sounds like fun and they plan on being there!
Anyone that wants to drop an email if they plan on being there and what classes they ride, can send an email to kelly@mustangmx.com. This will help us to be prepared and better organized.
Also, if you have a problem getting there to register on Friday, I can pre-register you.
Thanks,
Kelly

Oh Yeah, did I mention that the "Dunk Tank" is to raise money for a downed rider fund!
We have a really cool band for Saturday's half time. They're like a "Green Day" type band (punk rock)!
The pony rides are FREE! They do like Carrots though!

I'd just like to make a note to all that have tried to email me personaly through the contact us page at the mustangmx.com web site. Those emails do not go to or through me. Managing the website itself in addition to everything else I help there with is enough of a job for me so I'm not taking the emails in addition to that. Currently the emails are going to Kelly who's been kind enough to deal with them and take on that task while we continue to work towards getting the Masterpools computer literate. If someone needs or wants to contact me directly then do so by sending your emails to tony@ the same domain name... mustangmx.com if you have an older email address for me scrap it, this is the only one I check anymore semi regularly.
As far as who's going to be there, guarantee anyone fast is likely going to be there as they have been so if your just looking to sand bag a class you'll probably find you've come to the wrong place. The turn out for all the classes except the vet classes has been good. Though the last race out there we had a significant rise in people showing up for the vet beginner and Jr classes.
In doing our own races just for people to race we never expected the great turnouts we've been having, but instaed things have been going just as planned, a slow progression with more riders each race as the word continues to get out there on the true quality of overall experience everyone has been leaving with.
In my own personal point of view I think Mustang has just been trying to do what the other area promoters have suggested and influenced them to do with their helpful advice. I think this has allowed them to accomplish the turnouts they have already achieved, but my own thoughts are Mustang needs to do so much more than just what everyone is use to from our local promoters, not that they've done a bad job, but just that I think and have my own focus on us just going above and so far beyond what he other promoters are offering everyone.
Our turnouts have already been better than expected and with each race the numbers have continued to grow. Honey Lake and E street who both have the experience of great turnouts at their events have had a huge part in getting the experience they have shared with Mustang, but at the same time I think they also both hold some uniqe demographics that don't neccesarily apply to our local racers wants and needs.
I think as a result of just trying to offer the norm's that all of our other area promoters have gotten by with for so long now just isn't good enough and for Mustang to get us where I know the Masterpools want to take us all be and the track to go, we need to step things up and offer everyone more than they expected in the quality of the track layout and in the overall event experience.
As more of us race there, more of us come to see and understand that. People are slowly showing up, but more imprtantly, people are coming back and I think it's because we are putting on better events, or at least at this point early on in our existance trying to put on better events than anyone else out there is offering. After every event, and everyone has gone home, I can tell you all first hand, Jerry, Tara and I have sat for hours late into the night patting ourselves on the back for doing a great job, but more importantly discussing each time, what can we possibly do to make things even better still. We don't want to achieve just good enough.
When Mustang stops looking at how we can be better and just holds the focus on how they can be more like all the other tracks I'll personaly be at the point where I'll no longer want any part of the effort out there and I'll step away from doing my part in helping them like I have been doing. I don't forsee that day coming though anytime soon.
It's just like each and everyone of us want to become better racers, Mustang wants to keep up with that same pace and continue to become a better track offered to all of us. I think thats exactly whats going to eventualy set Mustang apart from all the other tracks we have out there. Not to knock them, they do a great job, but they've estabilished how and why they want to do things and they're all comfortable with doing just that and "just that" is exactly what they are doing.

No way am I getting in that ice berg water at 10AM. I was thinking I'll do it from like 1:00 to 1:05 with a 10 minute break mixed in there somewhere during that time frame. Not that I'm concerned about even getting wet seeing as how some degree of skill will be required on everyones part to make that happen. I'm thinking there isn't a single one of you out there capable of hitting the target with the ball to put me in the water anyhow so I can't say I'm all that worried about it. Even if one of you managed to hit the target with the ball on accident, I further doubt any of you are capable of throwing the ball hard enough to actually trigger it and drop me in the water.
Mark, You better make it out there, it's your fault I'm now in the Jr class, so the least you can do is show up so I have one person also in that class I can beat. I can live without getting a first place, but I don't want to be the guy coming in last. Glad to hear Frank decided to go on to college, I always knew he was smarter than you gave him credit for. If I could do it all over again I would have went and done 4 years at Notre Dame, graduated, then went into the Marine Corps and retired after only 20 years with an Officers Pension.
Had I of done that I wouldn't be setting in a dunk tank this weekend trying to raise money for a downed riders fund, instead I'd be the guy on the other end of things throwing the balls and sinking the fool.

Tony, you are not as dumb as I thought you were! I to wish I would of went to college first. All I wanted to do is make money and be on my own. Joined the Navy 1 month after turning 17 years old. Saw the world but missed out on a lot of opportunities. Riders, please listen to this old guy. Go to college and get that piece of paper that says you will do the extra. If you apply yourself correctly and smartly then you will start out making the amount of money that most people take 20-30 years to get to. Be the leader not the follower! Here is the best way your life can go after graduating High School! Work part time at a company like 7up that will give you hours around your classes, Go to class, do homework, practice in between work and school & race on weekends. I forgot one thing! Once in awhile unwind with your friends etc.... Another thing for the male riders. When I went to all the UNR football games last year there were hot girls everywhere! ;D
