You might be wondering where the "Welcome (Original)" post has gone. I've temporarily placed it elsewhere to think about it for awhile.
The reason? I've got a flood of phone calls and messages in distress over the contents of it. And I should mention the concerns aren't limited to MX West; the people at Mustang also asked that I notify everyone that the posts by Tony do not represent them in any way.
I originally put this board up to encourage unrestrained, intelligent debate on everything that concerns motocross. I didn't want to censor a soul in the process. But as the most recent threads have taken shape, it's become evident that intelligent debate was a distant prospect in relation to what was actually happening. Lots of people were being hurt, and no one seemed to be benefitting (lest their aim was simply to hurt others.) My hopes weren't panning out, and I was getting upset calls from all sorts of decent people.
At a loss for what to do, I decided to put the most venomous post aside and ask you, the members, what your opinions are. I'd appreciate anyone's honest, semi-considerate thoughts.

My opinion is as follows:
Intelligent debate leaves room for (and in fact thrives on) differences of opinion. (not a bad thing)
Reasonable criticisms can be presented in civilized ways.
In some cases, wording can make the difference between criticisms and libel.
Open forums seem to bring out the worst in some people.
Allowing guest postings leaves the shroud of secrecy available for those who wish to inflame controversies anonymously.

Robert I think that you did the right thing. We have a lot of great tracks in Nevada not just one. Well here goes my honest opinion. I don't know Tony (thank God!) I Have read most of his BS. I think that you should ban him. Oh but I forgot he is a computer hacker So that wont work. Tony will always stir the pot no matter what Jamie

His post are never helpful or nice - why does he feel that he has to slam people?? What is the purpose?? Its like - get over it and get on with life. He brings up the past that is not helping anyone. I know that i try my best to do what is best for the riders. And there are alot of things that are out of my control. Yet i still get slammed by it all. I wonder how people like this can sleep at night, or perhaps they dont and that is why they are so angry.
Have a great day!

Never had the pleasure of meeting Tony 24 , but he needs to be banned from all race talk in Northern Nevada. As I teach my kids if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!!!

This is just my 2 cents, nothing more.
First off I'm not stoked on all the bashing, if an individual has a problem with another poster or person it should be done with private emails or messages. This is not the place for it, but if it is a legitimate subject and one that would benefit input from racers, then let it fly. I want to use myself as an example, I worked for NMXD when some staff just up and left. I filled in and put my head down and got the job done. There was info I knew of (good and bad) yet had the respect to leave it off a public message board. It really is as simple as that.
I also think any poster here should have to provide a valid email addy, I belong to 5 other boards and 3 of them do this to prevent seize ups. If you check out my profile, all the info on me is there for everyone to see - I have nothing hide.
I don't know if people can remember MX West in 99 and the following years, but it was a tight knit family with one desire - To get out there and just Moto. The BS that has been stirred in the last few years is one of complete embarrassment. We can all do a bit better with a positive attitude, understanding, and respect for all the riders, promoters, and sanctioning bodies.

Thank you. After reading all that, it but me in such a funk I just didn't want to do this anymore. Today I went to Fernley, signed up, rode practice, went back to my pit sat there in the morning sun and thought about what was going on. I loaded up the truck and went home.

Ridin'-n- Racin'!!! That's what it is all about. ;D I know I shouldn't reply to any negative posts by anyone but they get me so frustrated at times I can't help it. There are so many hard working people trying to put motocross back to together and make it better than ever right now; to have someone come and slam you down and call you names...

NO ONE speaks for Jerry or Tara Masterpool! Tony's posts are Tony's posts and do not in any way reflect the opinion of the Masterpool's or other Mustang MX volunteers!
That said, Northern Nevada Motocross has a problem that needs to be fixed! We cannot survive on low entries. It is time for all involved to sit down and do what is right for the riders.
Mustang MX and NMXD are promoters that do this for the love of the sport, but also it is a business.
MX West and Sierra Motocross are sanctioing body's. OTMX and OTHG are motorcylce clubs that put on events for fun.
Each one of these organizations has different needs!
MY OPINION (emphasis on MY) is everyone had good entries when we were ONE organization. I believe the promoters that are businesses should get first choice on dates and an equal amount of dates. If they don't produce, adios!
We should sit down and hash out a set of By-Laws that are strictly adhered to. Then we (we being the riders) VOTE in a governing body. The governing body is elected every year on a rotating basis (so that there is never a totally brand new board). The governing body's job is to make sure that everyone is following the by-laws. ABOVE ALL this organization is for the riders and the riders get a vote. There should be an open meeting prior to each new series (so the riders can vote on how many out of town races and where they are held, the promoters come in with their game plans and the riders vote for what sounds like a good time).
Just some thoughts!
By the way Fernley was great today! Very well organized! Awesome track conditions! Thank You OTHG for putting on a great event, loved the prizes (now my tightwad son can buy his own motorcycle parts! Yeah, Right! He'll have his gift card when he's old and gray! He squeeks when he walks!) Anyway, we will always come back and race your events!
Thank you,
Kelly Perez

Thank You, Kelly. Your posts have always been well worded and thought out.
What you just described was a large drive behind MX West Racings restructure and why I decided to become part of it. There have been mistakes made by EVERYONE involved, growing pains if you will. We (MX West) want to put the bad blood between the sanctioning bodies, promoters and clubs aside and get down to what really matters, racing.
Unfortunately, wounds don't heal overnight and when negative posts stir issues up it makes it that much more difficult.
One of our goals is to work with Sierra MX so we don't run over each others races in the future. That is nonproductive for everyone from promoters to racers.
We have also officially invited Mustang MX to promote races in MX West Racings Nevada State Championship series this fall. I hope everyone encourages them to accept and give the new MX West Racing a chance.
These two baby steps would be a good start to getting the Northern Nevada MX racing scene back on track.
The same invitation goes out to OT and the Gang (OTHG) but the reality is the bad blood runs deeper and will take more time heal. I believe with hard work and dedication from all involved not only can we co-exist but make the Nevada MX scene bigger and better then it ever was. ;D

Kelly Perez thank you for a great post! I agree with you 100%
I for one would like to see a meeting between all promoters / Sierra & MxWest! We need to fix this problem. Stepping on each others events is not for the riders. My son raced Fernley last weekend in the 250 Int. class and there was only 3 riders. I road the 25+ beg with two riders and the 30+ beg. with 9 riders. In the past there would be at least 20 riders in the 30+ beg. class. So what is the next step? Do keep doing business as usual. I feel if we keep going on the way we are then there will be only a few tracks around again.
MxWestRacing Sierra MX OTMX OTHG NMXD Honey Lake MustangMx Lovelock Winnemucca Hawthorn
8 promoters 2 santioning bodies
Can we have a meeting and fix the Mx in Northern Nevada? I vote yes!
