Gonna be in Nor Cal soon and thought we would hit up the E Street tracks. Do I need to have an off road vehicle sticker on the bike even though we're going to be on closed tracks only?

California honors out-of-state OHV stickers (as long as that state has an OHV sticker program) when operating your OHV (bikes are considered OHVs) on PUBLIC land. E-St is private, as well as MMX, Riverfront, etc. Do note however, that the CA law does require the sticker be affixed on the OHV, WHILE IT IS IN TRANSPORT, unless you have a transportation permit from the CA DMV (in lieu of an OHV sticker)
If you don't have stickers and your bikes are in enclosed trailer, your okay, as no one should see them. If they are out in the open and you are in, or near, a known PUBLIC riding area, you can be stopped (it happens quite a bit). If you are going to the national track at Prairie City (also referred to as the Hangtown track) you need to tell them at the gate that you are not going to ride in the OHV area of the park, but the track only. If you do not have a sticker present, then it's a crap shoot on how the specific Ranger you are dealing with will proceed. There are stories of folks being fined at the gate for no sticker on the bike, when they are going to ride the track only. Again, if the bikes are in an enclosed trailer, they usually just wave you through. Riding in the Prairie City OHV park, as well as any of the other OHV/PUBLIC riding areas, requires a sticker.

Yeah we were going to hit up Prarie City so it sounds like I'd better play it safe and get one. Also my bike will be on a carrier - very visible!

Prairie City is kind of unique in that it is a state OHV area with a private mx track within it's boundaries. Some mx'ers pass right through without any incident (even w/o a sticker) and then numerous times a year somebody posts about getting a ticket. The trails in the OHV aren't all that great, but if you venture outside of the track area (it's fenced) to try them you will definitely get hammered, if no sticker.
It won't be a CHP, or Sheriff that will stop you if you are trailering bikes without stickers, it will be a Forest Service or State Park Ranger en route to, at, or leaving a public riding area. Again it depends on the officer, but we all read about those being stopped and ticketed. For example, be on the highway near the Mammoth Bar OHV area (on the American River near Auburn) and you might be stopped. Drive down I-80 to E-St. and you probably won't be.
Hope you enjoy the tracks. If you get a chance hit up MMX on a Sunday. The main MX track just got a face lift, the sand track is a blast and there is a kids track. You can go back and forth btwn the tracks for the same price. Riverfront just got a face lift also and is being run by a guy from Nevada. Recent reports are good.

You can buy an out of state green sticker at many of the shops in reno OR you can get a transportation permit in CA. The transportation permit is a one time purchase good for the life of the bike. It used to only cost $3 but I don't know what they might cost now. www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/plates/decalsplacards.htm 15.015 Motorcycle Transportation Permit (CVC §§38.088 and 38232) A motorcycle transportation permit may be issued for transporting a racing motorcycle to and from racing events. •The owner must certify that the vehicle is be used solely in organized racing or competitive events on a closed course. •The permit must be attached to the motorcycle in a position that is clearly visible. •The permit is not renewed and is valid only until the vehicle is transferred to a new owner or junked. No Certificate of Title is issued in conjunction with a Motorcycle Transportation Permit. A Title Only may be obtained when appropriate documents and fees are presented. See Chapter 6, New Vehicles sold by California Dealers, for Title Only requirements Here is the form. www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/reg/reg712.pdf

I am also in the need of vehicle wraps for my old car. I have been thinking to use business logo on the front so would like to hire a good service for getting the logo printed on wraps and then to have it installed professionally. Could you recommend a good service?
