I posted this list a few years ago from the AMA District 36 records. I THINK it was 1984 so you young "rippers" may not know them but...you should study up on their styles and dedication! These guys all earned a 'Blue Plate" meaning they had the most points for the year in all the classes combined.

Tim Aston ( ya got that one) 10.David McCombs ;D ;D ALL THE ABOVE ARE NEVADA RIDERS ;D ;D Honorable mention for our Nevada guys: 13. Eric Schacht 16. Ricky DeCarlo 19. Beau Hibdon 21. Jay Heying 23. I'll smoke you 66, cause your to busy yelling at yourself on the track, take out Gillen and all of his friends, Stop half way through the moto and eat a sandwich with Layne and Kenny Bell, And still have time to 86 Harvey. Ty will protest all of us from his golf cart, "via radio.'' Tommy Jean will say he won, even though he didnt show up till monday. Espo will get DQ'd for cutting the track. Tiearney will be hanging out with smoke dog and D LOC, but somehow look faster than everyone. The Stilmocks will be at Fernley waiting for round 2, cause everywhere else sucks and they rule there. Barker will throw his helmet and wanna kick everyones ass. Lash will be in his box van polishing his boots and hanging out with Hot Chicks. JT got the hole shot and no one has seen him since, Sean Carmichael and Daryl Chapman will be fixing there bikes and Donny Roberts is somewhere with your girlfriend. Palmer missed the race cause hes signing autographs still, Mason's laughing at Miller cause he still uses blocks at age 30 and Buytens already doing beer bongs celebrating life. But in the end, Thorwaldson will win. He works out everyday. Best post ever.

Although he was not born here Jake Turtle Wikoff spent the last 10 years of his life here and I have seen him run with all of our fastest guys, one of the most fun times I had watching moto was watching Jake and Bobby G battle for 30mins on the Hungary Valley Track...
I also have to mention Josh Morros that kid was straight fast, he'd occassionally show up to a motocross track and just smoke whoever was there that day.
Taylor Bittner has to be on the list if I am not mistaken he won Loretta's in the B class...
Tony Evans gets my mention also winning Mammoth in both classes the same year as an intermediate
Justin Mastalka has always been fast on two wheels and has won some amazing races.
Tim O'brien many a times blew my mind especially back in the carson days smoking a 40 gate pro class
Buck Ford did a few great things
Nate and Justin Tiearney both get votes for me as well, quoting Turtle "no matter how fast I was going in southern california, beating even big name racers I'd come up to Nevada and Justin Tiearney would just smoke me, he's one guy I could never beat"
Shawn Palmer when I was a kid I would watch him at fernley lead the pro class by half a lap...
Last but not least and this was in no particular order, both of the Thorwaldson's were fast, you'd watch Richie win and think how fast he was going then watch Richard go out and just wonder if he wasn't going faster.....
Just some of my thoughts having watched these guys as I was growing up and enjoying it.....
Not to leave out anyone Brian Sjogren Jesse Gore Aaron Siminoe Matt Bussell Freddy weichers Tommy Jean Mike DiLoretto and many more of course but throwing it out there

We have had some amazing riders come from this area.... It's cool to see how many rippers are from the area! Lets not forget about where Freddy could have ended up. And also, with this list of local "Heros" I still think give credit where credit is due..,, I know he maybe never made much of any career, but I still think on a good day in his prime Tommy Jean could have beet anybody around here. Sjogren (my bro!) Bobby G, Justin Soule, Espo, Nate, Mason, Miller, Lash , Hazel, Ferris, Nelson, Havey, josh Morros, Ross Neely, Chris Barker, Adam Conway, both Simino's...... There's lots of talent around here Hope everyone has a great Friday! -Tony Evans Tony's too modest to mention that he's beat most of those guys and belongs on the list himself! Good point on Tommy too -- he had no shortage of talent on a bike.

Nevada riders have some great history for sure. I think you would half to have access to all the promoters records to see where the records really lead. I hope reporting My sons will be. considered just fun and not tutin my own horn. Ofcourse im proud of him but Im very proud and appreciative of ALL our PROs. Unless you've been there and done that most don't realize how accomplished privatier Pros are. There true place in the national scene is held back by the AMA allowing only a handful of riders to have their special parts and privledges . At Tims big pro races 54 pros many of the ones you see on tv where there and Aron whole shot Alesie twice and Both Aron , Brian Sjogren won a dash for cash and both finished in top 3 with Siminoe an Tiearney in top 10 awesome results. Our own race history is : 98 top 5 finishes and two hundred and fourteen wins. Won Tys Nevada State Championship series twice. Won the GFI northern Calf series and the north south shoot-out.[Villipoto was the southern champ Aron The northern, Aron won, word was payton wouldn't let Villipoto race that race, crazy history for Nevada. We won a few Loretta qualifiers and regionals, finished 3rd in the world at lorettas am nationals as intermediate and 5th in world as pro. Aron won a National Title in 450s in Ponca City Oklahoma as intermediate and also won a National AMA PRO=AM title in Texas. Jimmy Nelson and Aron both took on Canada. Jimmy won two national west coast titles . Aron Won 3or4 national events and 3rd overall running east and west coast [after several engine failures]. One accomplishment I think May never be repeated is Aron didn't start racing until he was 14. We were told by many it would be impossible to accomplish much. So Many great memories with all our pros. Lets put their Pictures up at the local tracks and have our own walk of fame like they do in so-cal..I wish some day that riders like ours get a fair chance to compete at the nationals, watchin the same riders over and over on tv isn't racin just a circus show. Nevada Riders Rule. Come on AMA what ya afraid of we sent your boys packin at Obriens National. and now you know some of Nevada history good day Ron USA.

Judy, if you go back a few more years when MX first started around here you will see Dick Buttner was a Blue plate AND Distict 36 #1 desert plate. He rode 2 classes and usually beat everyone in both. There's no doubt he belongs on the list. Dan Dossey, Chris Harjes, Tony Berluti and anyone else around here at that time will verify that. He won VC overall one year on Sunday.( back when the pros rode Sunday) I remember watching him beat Scott Harden straight up at the Cat House Hare and Hound in an exciting race to the finish. If he entered any race around here, either MX or desert he would usually win.(overall in the des). He beat a lot of well known Nor Cal riders at Marysville and other Nor-Cal tracks. Back in the 70's he was the man to beat around here. Dwight

Wow, talk about some great riders! I'm glad to see some honorable mentions made as well. There have been some great riders from here, and a lot that due to simple circumstances, many will never know of. Some names i didn't see: Shannon Harjes, Mike Baxter, David Zehner, someone with the last name of Darby rings a bell too, I remember more than one race that the only guys in front of me were Tyson Vohland and Bobby moore also,...Not everyone had the opportunity, but there has always been a lot of heart raised in the 775
