Ok need some help. We changed fork seals and all was good then a couple weeks later noticed a leak so thought we damaged it putting it on so changed the seal again. Still leaking so we inspected the piston of the fork even better to find a very very small nick that I can feel with my finger nail. So how do we fix this. Can I buff it out?

I've had good luck using very fine sandpaper (600 grit) in a cross-hatched pattern, followed by a buffing with a 0000 steel wool pad.
Don't rub harder or longer than you need to. You just want to smooth the lip enough for the seal to slide over it without snagging. It often doesn't take much. Good luck.

I use emery cloth on all nicks and scratches. If you would like to bring your forks by, I'd be happy to clean them up for you. Also, more often than not, the bushings should have been replaced. Worn bushings will also contribute to the seal failing.
