How do People feel about the $10 per person gate fee on Sunday. That's a lot for a family of Four just to go watch their kid ride. why can we just go back to the $5 per person gate fees

I know it sucks. But races are very expensive. The amount of staff to run a race at 28 goes from 3 people during a practice to 15 on a race weekend. Insurance goes from 150.00 to over. 600.00 per day. We have no choice but to charge 10.00 gate fees. The cost is not to just watch your kids race. It's the cost to supply them with added safety, ambulances, liability insurance and staffing. Go to any club meeting. They will show you the costs. It will blow you away how expensive they are. Racing is still relatively affordable if you think about how much the promoter risks, bad weather, low turnouts cost promoters 1000.00's of dollars. Support the tracks!!! Without the promoters risking a lot for 10.00 gate fees your kids would not have closed circuit racing.

ABSOLUTELY!! Every race and race practice day. Way to much on the line to not have the best care available. We dont have the down time of waiting for an ambulance or stopping a race waiting for an ambulance to Return. We are the only local track that offers this, not sure why? Its crazy to me that others do not and that its accepted by racers and parents to not have an ambulance on site.
When you see big turnouts and no ambulance than you have every right as a parent or racer to express deep concerns for the lack of safety provided. Especially when you are required to pay 10.00 gate fees. However; if you choose to race or let your kids race without an ambulance, that is your responsibilty as a parent and a racer to accept that elevated risk. There is no one to blame but yourself. I know my post is going to upset my fellow friends that hold races, but I dont care. Not having an ambulance at the race track during a race weekend is ludicrous and should not be accepted.
Practice days on non race weekends are exteremely different. Riders are not allowed to ride aggresively and are thrown out if they do. These are our policies and I hope they become more of the norm for other tracks.

Well I see your point but I didn't race this Sunday do to the gate fees. I can't see spending $40 for a family of four to get in the gate. The $35 to race is great. All I hear in this town is all are races are nonprofit and volunteers. So you do the math I think you guys will be fine to drop the gate fees to $5 a person. I talked to some other parents and they think its crazy for the cost you charge for Sunday.

We don't have volunteers and we are not a non profit. You dont know the math, come to a meeting and than you will understand. It's impossible to be profitable without 10.00 gate fees.

Who cares if this upsets them. Back when Scott Davis ran Estreet he had ambulances at all events race weekends or not. I've never been to your races but I've always thought that we just didn't have ambulances up here at home. I would like to know why we can't have one at every race weekend, and being a non-profit is not a fair excuse. We had a few crashes at stead where it took our fat lazy flaggers too long to get up out of their camping chair to throw the yellow. And people want to be stringent on open class policy because it's not safe

Our Winnemucca track has always had an ambulance at the track for every practice or race day. We also only charge $5 gate fees for race day. Practice day is no gate fee at all. Just an FYI, the track here in Winnemucca is going to be AWESOME for the upcoming race!

You should of ask, who likes the cost of diesel fuel being 4 gallon or gas being over 3 bucks a gallon or the cost of insurance or transport fees going up for the equipment, or the lease on the property... I could go on for a while, not one person ever wants to raise a fee. But sometimes it has to be done. The fees are no more than over the hill or in our area. It's unfortunate but cost have go up and it some point that cant be absorbed anymore and must be passed down. I know it sucks. But races are very expensive. Without the promoters risking a lot for 10.00 gate fees your kids would not have closed circuit racing. None profit, doesn't mean you can make a profit on your event. It's what you do with it that holds you accountable. Doesn't mean you can't pay your volunteers either. I know the OTHG as many that do it for nothing except the love of the sport and others volunteer to do jobs that we financially compensate them for their time. They obviously don't or can't make a living just working a few mx races. So, where does the money come from when races don't turn a profit?
Flaggers, the most unappreciated job out there. Before you b**** and call them names, step up and do it a race or two. Then have a different understanding of what the job entails. As many are proving its thankless work, that isn't as easy as you may think.
Paying your gate fee at the gate and buying your entry at sign up, that isn't new! Many have been doing that for a very long time. Honey Lake, Exit28, OTHG/Fernley...I could go on. On practice days everything is collected at the gate to help prevent poaching. We collect only gate fees at the gate on race day, to get the people thru the gate faster, and it's easier for use to account for what's happening at sign up.

I have bob, the job entails long hours sitting in the sun, little to no breaks, maybe some food... I get it. But if they volunteer they should be in a spot where they can see their assigned portions and you usually can't do that sitting in your lawn chair

Must be awesome to be perfect and not make a mistake in life! lol!!! All good, I didn't see it... but it sounds like your being a bit hard on the flaggers...
