Hey, that old bike at stead running with the pro's is a 1983 Honda. Virtually dead stock. How about some of you guys or gals that have an old warrior bring HER out and race that old CR... Any takers? Bob716SR (ps: I called it a HER because it is very unpredictable. Just wanted to clarify.) Well?

Funny story: the 480 beat me up badly in the first moto. The suspension was so marshmallow-like that I felt like a dishrag by the fourth lap. This was odd considering I'd never had this problem with the 480 before.
It was only until after the moto that it was discovered that the compression was turned all the way out on both ends. It seems that someone--I won't say who--had turned the clickers for a bit of leisurely trail riding and never reset them.
I returned to the starting line for moto two (with the dials set roughly 12 clicks in the proper direction) and I swear I was just a couple of ticks off the pace I set on my 450.
OK, maybe it isn't a funny story. But it does stand as an important lesson on the dangers of taking race bikes trail-riding. You simply can't ask a thoroughbred--even an old one--to do the work of a mule.

Hey, I think I've been insulted. When I trail ride the 480, its not like its doing MULE work. Mule work! I look at it like its a highly specialed machine taking a finely tuned older athlete for a ride. Someone (I won't mention names Robert) said its MULE work for the bike. Hey Dave, you can relate... Tell him. Ha ha. Bob716SR

For the first time ever I'm NOT going to post my actual thoughts.
I'm also NOT going to make a habbit of doing this.
Hopefuly that point hits home and we'll never have to have this conversation again.
