Heard rumor that Bubba is out for this weekends race at Southwick due to the fact he injured his knee at Hi-point

After giving up 50 points to RC at High Point, he might as well get fully healed.

His best bet for being a champ in the big bike class will be next year, RC will be retired.

It's got to be tough for James to face the prospect of never really getting the best of Ricky in a series. Nearly every champ of the past has had to yield to the someone before leaving the sport, and I'm sure James was hoping this year to be a transition season in which he takes the throne from RC. But it hasn't happened. RC is doing something unprecedented--again.
Of course, there have been a few fairly grand exits before: JMB's sudden decision to become a road racer after taking every major title in '91 (he rode in '92, but clearly didn't care anymore;) Brad Lackey's semi-forced retirement after winning the '82 500 world title (it reportedly had more to do with him not finding a ride to defend the No. 1 plate;) Doug Henry's decision to go part-time after winning the '99 250 national crown; and Roger DeCoster's winning performance in his final GP in 1980 (what else would you expect from The Man?)
But if RC takes the national title this year, in addition to his supercross win, it will certainly be the greatest exit in motocross history.

And, before any of my Belgian readers interject (I know they're out there:) yes, it is pretty spectacular what Stefan Everts is doing across the pond in his final season too. I only wish Tortelli, Pichon and Coppins stuck around to make it at least a little interesting.

Here's the latest I've heard, which came from Racerhead over on http://www.racerxill.com:
The big news in the 450 class is whether or not James Stewart is healthy enough to ride after his frightening High Point crash. Stewart explained the deep bruise he suffered on his website earlier this week, and I followed up with his agent David Evans of MX Edge last night to see if there were any developments.
"James is definitely coming to Southwick and he will do his best to race,” Evans said. “We have an early appointment with Dr. Augustine [of the Asterisk Mobile Medics team] on Saturday for a full evaluation and we will go from there. James' health and safety is our primary concern but he wants to race and we hope he will be able to."

Lets see,,,,,,,hummmmmm...Southwick.....Hot, rough, hot and lots of SAND! Can only equal one thing......RC 1-1 with Bubba and TP sharing a coke and hotdog watching... Heck, if Bubba and TP race......John Dowd and Doug Henry will most likely have better finishes

I'm amused by your image of James and Travis sharing a Coke and hot dog. The idea of two grown motocross stars sharing a trackside meal is very funny to me for some reason.
And, yeah, the Junkyard Dog and Henry are sure picks for my top-five.
