Most people know Tommy Jean and his sister Normajean. Well their father is pretty sick with lung cancer and will face an operation on Wednesday, Feb. 13, as the first part of his treatment. Norma sent me this information and said the operation will be at Saint Mary's. Tom should be there for a few days after surgery and then find out what the doctors have planned for him. If you can, let him and the family know your thoughts and prayers are with him and during this time. I know good words coming from the motocross family will really boost his spirits.

Great idea, Dan. Luckily Norma has been keeping us up to date 'til now, but I'm sure she'll be busy these next few weeks with Tom in treatment.
So in the meantime, hang in there, Tom. We're all pulling for you and looking forward to seeing you at the track again.

The first time I met Tommy’s family, I knew they were a group in which I would always remember. Tom was like a big teddy bear that wanted nothing more than to be loved. Sue was the most loving and generous woman I had ever met. And Norma, oh Norma, she has to be the most outgoing girl in the world and has actually become one of my best friends, like a sister even. We can’t forget about little Samantha either. The first time I met her, I was welcomed with a sincere hug. There are no strangers to the Jean’s, they care for everyone. They invited me into their life with open arms and for the past 2 ½ years, I have considered them my family.
Every family is met with obstacles in life, but they have been thrown something which none of us ever dreamt possible. Those of us that know Tom personally, know that he is terrified of what is to come. But the support you all have given has made this whole process much easier for us all. God knows Tom, Sue, Norma and Tommy need all the encouragement possible at this point and I am thankful to have you all there to keep up those spirits we all know and love. I know the Jean’s are exhausted and the next couple of months are still a mystery to us all, but with the love and support you all offer I know this will end with nothing but prayers answered.
As for you Mr. Tom, Tommy and I love you more than words can express and we will continue to be with you every step of this process. Just keep that head up and always have that famous smile on your face because nothing would ever be the same without it.
We also want to thank the sparks tribune for acknowledging Tom, I know it meant a lot to him, as well as the whole family.
