No matter what name is chosen Sierra MX and MX West need to establish a Northern Nevada standard. It would be a shame if Sierra MX opted for MX1 and MX2 while MXW went with 250 and 450. This would add more confusion to an already messed up situation

One thing that is very important on this subject is continuity with other areas. I dint think there is a track within a ten hour drive that uses the names MX1 and MX2. Another thing is it is very confusing to a new comer or a old racer from back in the day...

My vote is MX1 and MX2 because "motocross lites" and "motocross" class sounds just wrong, and 250 and 450 class is still confusing when discussing the 250 class. At least MX1 and MX2 is used in GP racing and Canada. Should the US adopt these names all would be the same and any confusion caused would shortly be overcome with these names. Just my two cents.

I like the the 250 and 450. 90% of the bikes racing are 4-strokes and the percentage will only continue to grow. MX1 being the 250/450 and MX2 being the 125/250 is backwards and confusing for anyone that doesn't follow professional racing.

MX1 and MX2 only made sense when the two-stroke was still around. Since it is virtually gone, 250 and 450 are now much simpler tags.

Yeah, I guess it would be kinda silly to fall in line with what the rest of the world of motocross is doing. We should probably keep changing the bloody names so as to perpetuate the confusion. AMA made a mistake renaming the the classes and will likely rename them again soon.

The rest of the world Bud, you need to pick up a Cycle News and see the rest of the world hasnt changed its class names. (I looked in issues #22 and #23) Only the World MX series runs the MX1, Mx2 and MX3 classification. Believe me the motorcycle industry in America is demanding the AMA change the names, its way too confusing for outside sponsors as well as new comers. I have eaten, breathed and slept motocross and I find it confusing and at the last Fernley race many other people did to and when I asked other gang members because I was unsure, they didnt know either....Its just very confusing and a little mistake that can be fixed

It's like the metric system. Just because the rest of the world uses it is no reason for us to use it. Lets not jump on the band wagon like every nation in Europe, Canada, South Africa, Australia, Japan and any other of the 90 nations that are F.I.M. sanctioned. P.S. Has anyone been watching Enduro 1 and Enduro 2 on Speed. Or the supermoto S1 and S2 races

No deal, Steve. I will now point out that the 250/450 tags are stretching their lead.
Now if the AMA could get on the bus, we might have sensible class names again.

I'd like to see the names "Two stroke" and "Four stroke" Then put the top ten guys in the AMA National Series in the Two Stoke class and all the rest in the Four Stroke. Do you they would still win?

In my opinion, I think it should be as Layne suggested earlier. 125/250f and 250/450f. Our sign up sheets already have that printed under the MX1 and MX2 classes for rider clarification. As the 2 stroke class slowly goes away, we can adjust the wording accordingly. I also think we should add two more trophy classes. One for the guy that wins practice and another called "Seat time" That would be for the guy that is allowed or sneaks into the wrong class saying" Ya'll don't have to score me, I jest wanted more "Seat time". Oh, and those would be beginner only classes. Whadda ya think? Judy

Everyone is also soon going to have to consider not just the 4 stroke class, but the 4 stroke carburated and 4 stroke fuel injected as individual class types.
