How about classes for separate tire sizes? The 120/90-19 class, the 110/90-19 class and the 100/90-19 class. God help us if anyone runs a Michelin

If you are old enough to remember when "Datsun" decided to change their name to "Nissan" they didn't just change all at once and cause confusion with their brand, instead they slowly initiated the new name by placing both names on their vehicles for a year or two then took the Datsun name off to leave Nissan as the singular brand name.
My point is that ANY change that is made now will take some time to digest and a certain percentage of people will be confused for awhile. I think the fact that our sign up sheets now have both MX1 (250/450F) and MX2 (125/250F) denotations on it is a great idea and will eventually not be neccessary. I don't think that continually changing the class names is the answer because this will only serve to cause more confusion and frustration.
Remember, if we were to go with the popular vote at the moment there would be confusion when discussing the "250" class. Just think about it...... "I am riding the 250 class" would be confusing because are you talking about the old classes or the new classes. Sure the 450 class would not be so confusing but the 250 class.......?

I don't really see it as a problem! Just call it the 250 & 450 class period and have the rulebook discuss what bikes can ride in what. Every rider should read and be aware of what the rule book says. 4 strokes have taken over so the majority should be the main thing.

I’m sorry Bud, but I disagree with your allege. The name of Datsun changed all over the world with world wide advertising. The designation that is being used now by Sierra isn’t being used in a 600 mile radius, I keep looking in Cycle News and I can’t find any other associations use that designation. It’s very confusing and hard to remember, don’t you think there should be some continuity in the class names with other tracks in our area. Such as all of California, where most of our racers travel to? Keep it simple, easy to understand for all and it needs to be easy to understand for all. Especially new comers…

I still think it should be 125, 250 and open. Regardless of how many strokes your motor turns. The three of us that still ride 250 two-strokes ride in the vet and OT classes anyway!
