At the moment, these guys are the only ones within 50 points of the leader Alessi (aside from Barnett, but don't count him out yet--the guy has 25 career 125cc MX wins and he's totally due for another. It's been, like, 23 years.)
After watching the early motos, I like Villopoto's chances. Yes, he's a rookie, but the kid hauls, and he's lived in Alessi's shadow throughout his amateur career, which would make it all the sweeter for him. I'd pick Short for my back-up.

villapoto sure hauls butt. I saw him at Hangtown and he was railing. It was just Alessi's day.

But Villopoto's on the gas more than anyone--at least as far as this poll is concerned.
No votes for Alessi, Grant or the Australians? I guess it makes sense. I mean, the Alessis are probably too obnoxious to have that many supporters, Grant's ankle is suspect, and when has an Australian rider ever had success stateside? Like that could happen.
