I can agree with that, Greg. I feel inclined to defend the stock stuff because so many riders have so little faith in it, when in reality, it is pretty good sometimes.

Suspension is one of those things that you ask twenty people you’ll get forty different answers and asking who the best is……well you probably get more different answers than ever. I have had stuff revalved by Race-Tech, I did Gold Valves myself, Factory Connection, Pro Circuit and I have also had Works kits from Factory Connection and have gotten works Showa stuff from Pro Circuit. The Showa stuff from Pro Circuit is way different from stock revalved stuff, in that the forks are bigger and so is the shock shaft and the are both titanium nitrate coated for better, smoother action and it way harder to prevent them getting damaged or nicked by rocks. This coating comes in different colors black, gold and a greenish purple color these are the same coatings the factories use. I guess what I’m trying to say is the best is out there. It just depends on what you want to spend! But learn how to make it work before you spend the money…. Keith has proven that statement by not understanding what to adjust to keep his 125 to work better or the understanding that a four stroke has a totally different handling characteristics over a two stroke. Keith, SORRY I wasn’t trying to pick on you just use you as an example.

in my defense layne, we went out onto a very rough and gnarly track to test the suspension on my 250fs but only got my 125 back together the week before mammoth so it was difficult to mess with anything but the jetting.

Oh, one more point guys. You have to remember that Robert is on a HONDA. the most refined moto bike in the world. The other brands may indeed need a complete revalve. Ha ha. (oh boy, another can of worms got loose.)

Ive ridden a stock honda out at prison hill and my eighty handled that rough track better then that thing(but that might have been because i actually fit on my eighty). but still ive ridden a stock kawi honda and yamaha. the kawi felt ok but it was too tall compared to the others. the honda was just way to sharp for me i was getting kicked all over the place I dont even want to know what that bike would feel like on a track where the bumps aren't rounded off like hangtown or something( that would be scary). suspension wise the yamaha is by far the best off the showroom floor.

Any bike can feel like a garbage scow if it's set up wrong. My Honda was, not surprisingly, all over the place on the first ride. But today it gobbles up braking bumps, absorbs big hits and has a very balanced feel. All it needed was a little attention and now we're happy together.
