Most companies have striking designs these days, and most perform pretty well too. So it mostly comes down to individual preference, and with so many people running Thor now, I have to look elsewhere lest I look like everyone else's doppleganger.
O'Neal was my choice. It's only major flaw is that it's sold at Pep Boys, but I guess you can't fault them for filling an order to a chain with hundreds of stores--even though I still kind of do.

Your poll is lacking in whats the best gear and should read whats the more stylish or better promoted based on the options your offering.
A year ago I wouldn't of bought or wore Fox gear if you gave it to me just because they've become so commercialized and now people who don't even know what Fox is are buying Fox shirts and stickers in the malls and wearing the logo just to be trendy. Then Layne turned me onto some Fox pants and jerseys, and I have to say, they wear really well and last. Compaired to my other brand gear costing the same yet didn't hold up at all, the Fox gloves, pants and jersey seem to be of higher quality and hold up well.
Your poll is missing though the better and higher end companies who are out there not just to make you look good, but to make you as safe as possible when it comes to avoiding an actual career ending or life threatening injury. You aren't looking too good in that new Oneal gear when it's being cut off your body as your getting loaded into the care flight off the track.
Your pants and jersey from what ever brand may look good, but it's not going to keep you off that helicopter ride and a few extra dollars spent for better than brand popular name recognition could save you several thousand dollars in unwanted medical bills.
Where's Bell for helmets and Sidi for boots in your poll?
Why hasn't anyone developed some kind of positive proton charged dirt repelling gogles yet that don't require vision blurring and more expensive than the actual goggle tear offs?
We're in the year 2006 now but all of us are still using goggle technology that dates back into the early 70's or older. Goggle technology should be much further advanced than it is right now. We should have goggles like the astronauts or fighter pilots have that digitaly work through a central computer system and offer you a detailed display of all activity from bike temperature to best lines on the track ahead of you to take or pass someone on right on the visual screen. Complete with built in laser technology that vaprizes dirt before it even has a chance to hit the lens.

not true. if you actually have worn all three boots then you would realize that gay ernies offer the most protection from foot and leg injuries. making gaerne sg 10 the best boot available.

I'd have to disagree, my Justin brand ranch wellington steel toes are the best boots out there. Plus they are your best friend when the heat is on ;D ;D ;D
Just kidding around you all.

I would sooner ride in Tevas than Alpinetrash! SIDI are by far the best fitting, most protective boots made. I wore Alpinetrash for 25 years. Then I found how good boots can be. Everyone I have ever met that wears them says the same thing." I will never go back to that brand of boot that I was wearing before! I don't care if they were paying me to wear them."

my all time favorite gear is my Thor Core 5 gear that stuff is so comfortable, but for summer i have a set of the new troy lee moto shorts and cut off jersey, it definatley keeps me cool.
As for boots i have tried two pairs, A thor pair whcih were ok and my alpinestars which are my favorite they are really comfortable except the soles are getting pretty wore out so ill be lookin for a new pair soon!

Daniel, I liked my Thor boots as well before they got stolen (why anyone would want to steal a smelly worn out pair of cheap boots is beyond me?). The Thor boots were pretty comfortable right out of the box, and the price was certainly right, they also held up remarkably well. If a person didn't have a few hundred dollars to spend on some expensive boats then Thor would certainly be your way to go from the boots I've tried.
When I went shopping for new boots, I think I had my own mind made up before I even got there that I was going to leave with a pair of Alpinestars, but knew from experience, when I have my mind made up about something like this it's best when I talk to Layne about such matters first, then just go with what he recommends. The Sidi boots were the first ones he suggested to me, though he didn't limit me to those and made me try on several. I purposely didn't look at the price of any while trying them all out and attempted to be unbiased in considering just what most people were wearing, which Alpinestar seems to be the most common. I opted away from the Alpinestars though after trying them on. Trying the Sidi's on first made them so comfortable just out of the box that none of the others even felt close. Ease of getting the boot on and off made the Sidi a winner with me as well, again, no others compaired in that class. Carefully looking over the construction quality of the overall boots once again left me feeling Sidi was the hands down winner. Most importantly I guess, while I felt fairly well protected in the gay ernies, Alpinestars and Sidi's, there was something about the design of the Sidi's that also led me to feel I'd be better protected. The other boots felt and looked stiff and rigid as the means of obtaining their protective feel. The Sidi's were comfortable and flexable in the right places, yet still seemed to offer a well designed and thought out level of protection equal too, or slightly exceeding the others. After all, if stiffness makes for safety then for about $5 you could just put your feet in 2 five gallon buckets and top them off with concrete. I've never talked to anyone who's ever once owned Sidi boots and would ever consider again switching over to anything else.
The soles of your boots wouldn't wear out so soon if you didn't drag your feet on the ground while you were riding. Learn to use your brakes and your throttle to control your speed, not your feet.
