Did the WR1 suspension thread have anything to do with this thread? Yes. Not because I was bothered by it, but because my critic was.

Robert site is not the cause of the poison, merely the medium through which the poison spreads. The poison is a collective gathering of people's opinions and thoughts on what is usually made up of half-truth's and one-sided stories. Some folks get on here and post what they believe to be the truth, without checking thier facts first, then others who also believe it to be true because they read it on a forum get on and reply with more half-truths and assumptions... pretty soon we're so far off base it's comical. Plus one x 2......!!!!!

Bobby, I think that the forum works well as it is. I do agree that a person's identity should be disclosed no matter what to make them responsible for their remarks, but I've seen many friendships forged from a fistfight, and I've seen quite a few friendships formed as well from this website. I think there's been a thread or two that has gotten out of hand, but for the mostpart, it's a great place to be heard. Wether everybody agrees on a subject or not is a constructive way to get things out in the open for the common purpose of why anybody logs on here, our collective passion for the sport and the concern that we all share for Nevada motocross. We have a diverse group of individuals that range from first year riders, to folks that have been involved for a very long time, either in the industry, or the local racing scene. They may not always agree on what works, but they provide that same diversity for the people that can make a difference to hear how they feel. If anybody truly thinks that this website is poison, then they have the right to NOT log on as well as they have the right to voice their opinion. The only problem that I've seen, is the personal attacks when people don't agree.

I wouldn't say MX775 is the problem, But i sure miss the days when you could go home and vent after a race without posting it the minuite you get off the track, in the old days it was show up and race and do it again the next weekend, not race bicker on the net all week then race, that leaves no time for practice!!

It is what you make it. If you want it to be fun, it will be fun. If you want drama you will find it everywhere you look, even on this forum. But when the something is brought to the table, doesn’t make it drama. Sometimes the truth is the hardest pill to swallow and when you are wrapped up in lies they will eventually catch up to that person. Not to mention actions, they speak louder than words. Ones actions can tell a lot about them. People need to remember that words have no emotion, and not everything is written in a negative manor. Do you not think some of this stuff isn’t said in person? Sure it is. I visit all the shops in northern Nevada and I hear and see plenty. This is just a vehicle to express ones thoughts. I have made some friends on this site, sure some haven’t become fans of me. But such is life…I believe I have brought light to some that don’t understand the inner workings of the local motocross community. There are some legitimate complaints and issues that have been brought to this forum. How they are handled or address says a lot, well that can become a whole another story. Its funny when something is brought up and people create new accounts just to hind behind a screen name, post in favor or against and then never post again. Some must think that the regulars on this board are pretty stupid to fall for that. Having to but ones real name would end that, but who really cares. They are a flash in the pan and its how they really feel so be it. Mx775 offers a great way to get info the local motocross community. . This site is far from poison, its funny how some that may call it poison use this site for there own gain too. Layne

Poison.... NO! The forum rocks.... I consider it a way to keep in touch with my friends when I cant see em, hear about events, news and schedules, ask questions and catch announcements..... like Layne sez.... it is hard to argue by the written word.... when Misschristie & I fight by email.... it always goes bad..... emo-coms do help a little but it is often hard to tell what the person is really feeling.... on the other hand.... it is hard to punch someone in the face over the internet (please sign me up when this APP becomes available) so we are forced to hash things out in in more civilized manner.... some are better at it than others.... smack talk should have a little humor (IMO) ....personal attacks??? ....I supose it's easier to sit at home & post than to face someone eye to eye.... but you have still had the balls to come out and make a public statement.... warning your fellows about something or somebody seems fair enough if you have a good reason for it.... I think you do a perfect job on this site Robert.... wouldn't change a thing and I enjoy and count on it.... THANKS!

Thanks so much for the thoughts, everyone.
I agree with pretty much all of you. I have always ran this site from the perspective that we should be able to talk about whatever we like, and have whatever opinions we want, so long as we remain reasonably respectful of each other. I mean, we don't have to be saints about telling our opinions, but I have always tried to reject posts that contain gratuitous cruelty or derision.
All that said, I asked this question not because I was considering shutting the board down, but only because my critic's complaints (and the similar ones I've received over the years) had my brain working about what role a message board should play in a local motocross community.
And I needed a bit of perspective, which all of you were kind enough to provide. So thanks again.

I have been on these post boards for a few years now. And I would say that sometimes things do get a little poisonous. Heck, I'm even at fault for that. But one thing I have noticed over the last few years is that this is the time of year things can get a little out of control. After the fall series is over, people get a little impatient wondering when the spring series is going to start. Then the complaints start flying. I just urge people to let things happen ( because they do take time) then chime in on what they think. I do hope that things get hashed out before Jan 1. That leaves plenty of time to figure out what each racer wants to do for the spring. But all in all, this site is a very useful tool to communicate to the general racing public. And Robert does a great job keeping us all under control.
