You know, had you of asked me 3 months ago I would have never thought the day would come where I of all people would be making a post even remotely like this.
I'd be the last person expected to have anything good to say about the man.
When I initialy seen the list of the "new" MX West Board members my first impression was not a one of them have ever been directly involved in promoting a MX race in their combined lives at any level, what could they possibly know about any of this?
I had what I thought going into it was going to be the ugliest meeting of ill guided misfits I could have ever possibly endured.
I left that meeting thinking if anyone human could take what was left upon them to deal with and impress even me at the highest level they achieved, in which they did, then these same people given good circumstances to deal with could possibly rule the world.
At this point, none of us know if they can pull it off and actually save MX West from it's seemingly certain death, but, before we all just start shoveling dirt on MX West as being dead I feel compeled to ask everyone to take a closer look at the "new" MX West.
I think all of you may just be impressed or even inspired if you do.
They've had little to say about even the change publicly, I think they're being shy and instead just trying to seemlesly fall into place of the positions they are filling. That's a huge mistake you'll find because once you know what each of them as individuals are bringing together in an effort to form the new team you'll soon see how it all fits perfectly into place.
I'll give all of you a brief on each of them, but I think it's time they all came forward, introduced themselves in their new roles and let everyone know what they are working towards achieving.
Steve, has proven to be a marketing master. The entire "Coor's Light" thing, yea, that's been all Steve.
Mark, is handling the books, he's a business owner and his business is doing very well, and has been. He has nothing to hide from anyone and will be maintaining the books completely open to everyone for full review at all times.
Robert, who anyone already at this web site already knows, is acting as our rider representative, everyone also knows he's very well respected amongst all of us and he didn't accomplish that without good reason. trust me, I've already been hammering him one on one with my best shots and all he does is ask me for more, literally.
Cat, being a nursing student herself at UNR, and working as a paramedic in her past knows everything there is to know when it comes to taking good notes. I spent most the meeting looking over her shoulder just to see what she was writting down and she's got things covered.
Dave, ok, well, I won't say anything, other than, no, I won't say anything.
I think the most impressive part is when you actually listen to them all working together as a team and hear the great ideas and wonderful focus they all have.
I may be putting them on the spot here, but I'm going to do it anyhow. I'd like to see each of them step forward and reintroduce themselves under their new roles to all of you. I'd like to see all of you hammer them with the most difficult and concerning questions you can think of. Then I'd like to watch as each of us settle in and relax with the thoughts that they indeed are going to do for us as racers and worthwhile promoters exactly what needs to be done and should be expected of them while doing it.
They aren't going to be able to do it alone though, they have some very tough obsticals that also unfortuneately got passed over and dumped in their laps with the task at hand. These are issues that I know first hand not only have their full attention, but concerns in how to best handle and deal with.
I honestly believe that if everyone of us gives them a chance, by either publicly or privately pounding them with our individual or community concerns or praises need be. You'll hopefully also leave being the hardest skeptic, but most impressed as I have.
Once that's achieved, it will be upon the rest of us to take this to the individual promoters and express our own views on the matter about them.

Thank You Our profile has been kept low because we believe actions truly do speak louder than words. It's a cliche but also true in this case

That's nice of you to thank me, but a thank you is anything but what I was looking for nor was it my intention.
I'd like each of our new MX West board members to introduce themselves and share with all of us a rough draft of what your individual goals are.
I'd also like to have everyone see that none of their questions or concerns to all of you will be hidden in shadows, or masked by extreme practices of unresponsible censorship when your hit with a question or concern you may not immedieatly find to be favorable. While you may not be able in the best interest of the good for all give an individual the exact answer they want to hear, you won't be shying away from or counter attacking people you feel are threatening you.
We're all through Roberts own promise on nuetral ground here and such matters will not be deleted, they also hopefully I trust won't be ignored by any of you.
Of course, I wouldn't have put you guys on that spot had I not thought all of you would be more than capable of handling it.
So please, tell all of us about yourselves and what your goals are.
Then I'll let everyone hammer you guys with the easy questions to warm you up before I start hitting you with the list I have of my own questions and concerns.
So save the simple "thank you" for when I lie to you and say Steve your helmet isn't gross and sweaty and your race boots never stink.

Rick, I know you were joking, but I don't do drugs, I've been up all night on 4 bottles of gatorade actualy, Melon flavor to be more specific. I'm cracking open the Mountain Dew right now. I was dissapointed I couldn't make the Lovelock race because I was actually looking forward to it all week, so instead I decided to stay up all night writting the next generation of computer code thats going to save the world and post here while I was thinking and debugging.
I do feel strongly though that these guys are on the right track, I just hope they can pull off the goals they've set for themselves and believe they might be able to, but it's going to take everyone elses help in working along with them for it to happen.

Like normal you are a bit behind the power curb but you have good intentions behind it! I hope! I will do as you say as far as my own post vice when Robert comes out with the official Bio post.

I also administer the MxWestRacing web site.
Always remember that some question will not be answered because of things have not been finalized, certain statements have not been validated etc.... I could go on but won't! What I will do is tell you that everyone on the new MxWestRacing is doing everything we can to make a great high quality race schedule out there for the riders. We are not worried about personality conflicts but rather great races for our riders PERIOD. Not everyone will agree with everything and that is human nature. We have set up a structure where riders can address their concerns, suggestions & complaints to Robert which is our rider Representative. This gives the riders a direct input to how and what things are going on. We all voted on and was very great full that Robert accepted to take on this position because he has a the ability for giving great responsible feedback.
We have a well round group of people from beginner to pro, old, young, female & male. As for Dave! Tony does not give him enough credit. He has put in a lot of time with us working on making this a great Northern Nevada motocross season. As a group of people we thrive on each others strengths and when working together as a group there is no limit as to what could be accomplished.
The entire MxWestRacing committee will be at the Gardnerville race this weekend if anyone has any questions concerns etc... Face to face is the BEST way to communicate in my book. See you all there! I can not wait!

I'm going to do the bio/photo thing at the next MX West meeting, which should allow everyone to "meet" the new board on the MX West Web site shortly.
As for my intentions, I just want to help gather the best tracks of our area into a single series. There's no shadowy reasoning here; I just want to race them like the rest of you.

Mark, How can you accuse me of "jumping the gun" if I asked unknowingly about something you guys say you already had in the making?
I thought it was in order and already long over due for the new MX West changes to be announced to everyone. How long has it been now that swavy net surfers happened upon the MX West web site and noticed all the names have changed, yet nothing was ever officialy announced about all this?
Personaly, I think if anyone "jumped the gun" it wasn't me with this post. Not that it makes any real difference, but all of these changes should have been announced at least at the same time the names got changed on the main MX West web site. Since Greg left MX West it's now seemed to be some kind of tradition that the board members step down silently and now new board members slip in under the darkness of night.
I didn't like at all the way we've seen MX West Board members listed in the past, then suddenly one day, if your paying close enough attention, you happen to notice names have been removed with no mention of it's ever happening. Possibly worse than that, also without any mention, new names have turned up. None of us ever seem to know or understand where these names come from or go because you guys seem to have some policy of slipping in and out at random?
I once seen Jerry Masterpool and Scott Davis listed on the MX West web site as board members, without any mention to their suddenly being there to all of us. Refresh my browser and next thing I know those same two names were gone. It was the same case with Greg Chapel, poof, just one day his name was no longer listed as being an MX West Board member so I had to ask, what happened?
Now for some time now Layne's name has been absent from being listed as a board member, yet once again, no good bys it's been great I'm moving on announcements, welcome this person that's filling my shoes I'm sure they'll do a great job speeches.
If none of you have the common expected decency to announce this person has left, this person has come in, then whats to stop some total jerk like myself who has nothing better to do than just hack the MX West web site and change the names as I find entertaining enough at that bored moment in my life to humor myself with?
I think it's a bad policy and seeming now tradition where people are listed as MX West Board members and just randomly disapeer. For all we know Greg Chapel is in the trunk of a car in airport long term parking sharing air with Jimmy Hoffa.
What's this "when your ready to announce" stuff? I'd hope things were "ready to be announced" before they actually took place and happened. What are you guys telling me here, your ready to be MX West Board members and hold the fate of the free world in your hands, but your not ready to announce this yet?
I'm not slamming you guys, I'm just asking you some tough questions that there should be an answer for, actually, should already be an answer for.
Is anyone suddenly going to be gone and someone else new unannounced on the MX West Board next week?
This isn't something our new board members can answer and I'm not asking any of them the question. Layne, you asked me when I made this post, that I wrote it like something was wrong with the old board members. I think board members just dropping in and out unannouced is something wrong.
How ever MX West wants to operate internaly is up to the board, but I'd like to ask the current board to at least have the decency and respect to all the rest of us that should any of you step down, take the time, even just the 5 minutes to tell us if nothing more you've done so.
Thanks Mark by the way for the great introduction about you and thanks Robert for working on putting together some bio's on everyone so all of us know who our new MX West Board members are.
Fresh Meat!
Cripes, I didn't just say that out loud did I?

Tony, Ty announced on racetalk that he had stepped down as a board member, Layne announced on racetalk that he had stepped down as a board member, Greg had announced that he had stepped down as a board member. Kim is going to retire as a mxwestracing committee member at the end of the Summer series. It is time for her to spend more family time etc... I will say one thing about Kim! Thanks for all she has done for us. As far as the new committee, it was announced on this forum about the new MxWestRacing committee. Things will not happen over night. I will tell all the riders that there is a lot of hard work being done right now by all.

HA HA Tony you are a classic -- yup your onto us - "greg in a trunk" you see i wanted that truck of his and that was the only way to get it -- as for Jimmy Hoffa - thats still a secret. :-) man i thought the post office was driving me to drink - tony you are making me do double shots - haha
Yes after this summer series - i am stepping down as a board member. I have busted my behinny for the last 5 1/2 years with MXWEST- the new members are doing a great job - you will be in great hands. I want to spend more time with my family - horses and yard and the lake and whatever. Joel and I are getting married soon - yup the M word - oh my gosh - must have bumped my head. Joel and Anthony want to start racing stock cars - and i just want to chill, watch racing and relax.
So there you have it in a nutshell - After the Fallon race I will be handing everything over to the new dudes on the block - i will be around for any questions and walk them through all the stuff they gotta know -
so see you all at the next three summer races - then its a big bloody mary for me!
