I have a question: I need my valves adjusted (way over the 60hr break in point) but can't afford it til next week (and even though I am capable of doing it myself I would rather not since the bike is not paid off ) So I am wondering if it is safe to race this weekend, i.e. is there a chance of blowing up my bike?? Symptoms are hard to start and stalls easily when braking (with clutch in) Thanks!

A easy valve adjustment could turn into a $800 top end. The hard starting is from very minimal to ZERO valve clearance. Unless you are racing for a $1000.00 and know you are going to win..... I would get your valves adjusted first....
Checking and adjusting your valves on a four stroke will take you less than one hour if you don't have to shim them.
So to answer your question........ Is there a chance of blowing it up......? Yep...... Even a good running bike can blow.....

yes those are the problems I am having. I'm thinking I'll go get some shims and do it myself tonight.

Renomx there a lot of great videos on YouTube that can show you how to adjust the valves if needed. Sometimes it helps to visibly see what you have to do before you actually do it. Just make sure before you take the valve cover off that you clean off any loose dirt around the valve cover that could possibly fall inside the head.
