Pretty sweet. But when did it become necessary to say "colorways" instead of just "colors"?

Transworld needs to fire their web designer, thats a pee poor web site to navigate through even for a self proclaimed net swavy individual like myself. Their rag is so much better, but I suppose at least heir web site is free to browse, all the more reason why they need to fire their web designer though, because you know they are paying that company top dollar to do their web site for them.
You know, I've read people posting that MX is a poor man's sport. In that thought I can't help but think someone is either completely misguided in saying that, or they don't know what it actually means to be poor.
MX is anything but a "poor mans sport", it's extremely expensive even at an entry level. A good bike is going to run you upwards to 7 grand, a good helmet is going to run you at least $400, good boots, tack on another $400 for those. Gear, your looking at $100 for a jersey, almost $200 for pants, $30 for just gloves, another $20 for socks. $60 for some goggles and a couple tear offs. Want some knee braces? You could be looking at as much as $500 per leg for a good quality knee brace. Add in $40 for a kidney belt, another $100 at least for a chest protector and your just now at "entry level" ready to compete.
Now you need a cheap gear bag to carry all that stuff in, that's a minimum of another $100 at least, race fee's, gate fee's, second class fee's and gas fee's not only for your bike, but for your vehicle required to get to all the races.
Someone please add all that up and tell me this is a poor mans sport?
If your a "poor man" your in the wrong sport, I think that's what you'll conclude.
Soccer is a poor mans sport, you can buy a soccer ball at the discount sports retailer for about $6.00 and you can kick that same ball around all day and in most cases night under a lighted field the good ol GOV pays for with our tax dollars for free in any one of at least 100 public parks in any major metropolitan area in this country. You could be fully outfitted for and playing soccer for under $100, thats a "poor mans sport".
$100 invested in MX isn't even going to get you a 1985 model year bike. $100 invested in this sport isn't going to get you much of anything at all. This is not a poor mans sport by any means. If you went with the cheapest of gear, bought the oldest bike you could find a deal on, your still looking at best a good $2,000 investment. If you have $2,000 just laying around to put into a past time then your not as poor as you think you are. If your willing to put that much money up and consider anything else that follows along with applying to the cost of that pursuit as expensive then your probably not poor, but more so a tight wad. If your a tight wad I can't see why you would have ever of put up that initial 2 G's in the first place?
Even at an entry level, a person could be easily looking at 15- 20 thousand dollars total invested in just a bike and gear and a way to get that to the races with a cheap truck they bought. The cheapest toy hauler is running about 20G's on it's own, you'll need a truck capable of pulling that... you get the point, this is anything but a poor mans sport. It might not fall under things to do for the rich and famous, but its anything but a poor mans sport.
We can't make this a poor mans sport even if we tried, but we also sure as all he11 don't need to make it a primadonna sport either. That 04 gear you paid good money for at the time and still have nothing wrong with it doesn't mean you need to buy 05, 06, or 07 gear just because new colors have come out. You don't need to sell your 06 bike at a huge financial loss just so you can buy the latest and greatest 07 bike that has nothing more to offer than a graphics change, which you'll pull off anyhow and replace with custom graphics. Moving the motor forward 2mm's despite what all the popular mags who are paid to advertise by the manufacturers say make the next year bike so much better than the last years model I've yet to see anyone get dramaticly "better" in their race results that could justify this expense and financial loss advertising has gotten them caught up into believing.
Over a 10 year span, no doubt, gear and bikes have gotten better, but just year to year, only a fool parts with their money in that way.
It's shameful that the manufacturers push off the latest and greatest to all of us that you just have to have when all they do is undramitic changes instead of an effort to actually make things better and sell you that.

But the new stuff is so shiny.
Just kidding--my '06 450 will remain in the stable even as the '07s show up around it (since my birthday has came and went.) Oh, and same goes for my '83 CR480.

I saved up the money, was going to just pay cash for an 07 CRF450 this year as soon as they came out, but rethought the matter and decided instead I'll spend that money on a 10 day cruise away from this place come February for the sake of sanity and instead i'm going to hold on to my hole shot guaranteed 2 stroke, get better and start winning races as well on all it can deliver and when the second generation 4 stroke fuel injected models come out I'll sell out and buy one in the hopes that fuel injection will solve most of the current problems we all see in the carburated 4 strokes.
