Thank you to everyone who's posted thoughtful responses here. They're really interesting to read and they may hold the key to a future renaissance in local racing. Here's hoping, at least.

Great stuff as always, Jim. I was actually at 28 today and I spotted someone with a big lens as I exited the track -- it occurred to me it might be you -- but I had to split before I could seek you out. As I say so often: next time!
In the meantime, did you get any shots of a #716 YZ250?

Can we borrow this and repost? This was written by Jody Weisel of Motocross Action, hence the MXA reference in the topic.

I have a CRF150RB gearing is 15t-56t........ Dose someone know if that is the best gearing for the bike are should I lower the rear sprocket. yz,rm,85s pull away from me on the straightaways on the track are is that because they are just faster bikes. I wouldn't think your bike is lacking in power compared to the two-strokes, and unless you're tapped in your highest gear when you notice this, changing your gearing may not help much anyway. This may sound obvious, but the next time you're on a long straightaway, verify that your turning your throttle all the way to its stopping point. A lot of riders hold their grip in a way that doesn't allow the throttle to be turned all the way open, which can lead them to think they're pinned when they're really not. Also pay close attention to your cornering, in particular the speed you carry through the exit of turns. If riders are leaving you on the straights, they may simply be entering these sections with more momentum. Improving your exit speed will help you go faster regardless of whether the other riders' bikes are more potent. Hope this helps, and good luck.

I really hope I run into you at Chickadee or 28 someday when I'm riding. After all these years of checking out your excellent photos, my one complaint is that I've never been in one! Hell we have never even crossed paths. You more than anybody needs I nice poster shot. (I will make you look good...) Cheers... Ha, I went to virtually every race for many years, but I became a recluse shortly before you began publishing these photos. I've been riding more lately though, so I'll keep an eye out for you!

Czech Republic . www.mitas-tyres.com or google Mitas Tires . FB - Mitas . They also have a plant in Charles City Iowa where Mitas makes Tractor Tires for mostly AG . They have been building tires since the early 1900's . Some of you old guys might remember Barum Motorcycle tires. Mitas is part of the original company from Prague . Cool, thanks for the background.

It appears lack of excitement about the events and race politics are the top two responses so far. But sadly, only a few people have shared suggestions for improvements in 2015.
Regardless, I'll second Mr. Moto's hopes for a better 2015 for local moto.

YES ! totally forgot about the wheelie section . Gillen and Aaron will be rear-fender-less after the first lap. I'd vote for something involving stoppies too, though I might break some plastic myself in that section.
