Jut signed it and sent it off. It's another example of some clown in government over stepping his bounds. The rule is supposed to protect small children, those that put things into their mouths. Well I've never seen a 2-year-old ride a motorcycle or be allowed to lick one. Sometimes you can only wonder. And then realize why we're in such bad shape as a society.

Thankfully Speed repeats the Supercross events. Especially for dummies like me that set our VCRs to the wrong channel. The show from San Francisco is slated to be on Speed, Friday from 9 to 10 a.m.. This time I'll either watch it or tape it.

Thanks for the schedule. I screwed up setting the VCR on Feb. 1 but then noticed that Speed never showed the SX from San Francisco. Seems they had a "Pimp my Ride" marathon. So does anyone know when they'll repeat it. Usually they do the repeats toward the end of the week. Thanks

Happy birthday to you Chris. And your Mom should be glad you didn't decide to race sprint cars. They make MX look so inexpensive.

I think this all goes back to the points Layne made in the article I published about him. One thing I left out was the amount of riders that want everything but don't want to do anything. Well with two organizations you aren't going to have it. This split is crazy and everyone is going to suffer until adults decided to act adult. And promoters have to run a business. Like it or not, if they can't make their nut that track is going to disappear. Everyone needs to stop defending their turf, one reason is that it's everyone's turf, and get real. It's time for everyone to get together and work for the common good, at least for the sport so many of you love. I just think that big Rich must be doing about 5,000 rpm in his grave seeing what he worked so long for has gone to hell. For me, I'd love to see things get back together and the sport of MX return to what it was here. A fun time with a lot of hard racing. Best wishes to those that would like to put this back together again. It will take a bunch of work and support from all of you. Now quit complaining and crying and get busy. It's in your hands.

I saw part 2 the other night and was very impressed. Way to go Josh, we're all pulling for you. Know it is a still long way to go but feeling you're on the right track.

Ty I'll commend you for starting this post with some great ideas. When I did the profile on Layne for the Daily Sparks Tribune one thing he emphasized was that everyone needs to start thinking of the sport and not just of themselves. We used to have big crowds of riders, and many pros. I'd hope that this next year the motocross community here can finally turn a corner and get back to what it was, a wild fun weekend of racing. I loved those times and still like writing about the races. There are some good ideas in this post and I hope this will start people thinking so once again Northern Nevada becomes a great place to race and have fun in. Have a great New Year's then start working to put this thing back together again. And it will take work and putting personal feelings aside. But I think everyone can do this for the betterment of the sport.

Okay, so where do I go to find out how they do down there? I'll be sure to mention them in the Sparks Tribune.

So does this mean that group out of Daytona has given up on AMA's motocross programs. Wonder if they only wanted road racing. And what will that mean for the flat track series. Of course Live Nation still has Arenacross and Supercross so it could be interesting or a battle for turf in the next year.

Robert, glad that you're home. Your condition makes my recovery from knee surgery seem, well like getting over a pulled tooth. Anyway buddy heal up fast and hope to see you at the track next year. For now, just enjoy the holidays, as much as you can and get better. Take care.

If you want to read the article in the Sparks Tribune about this weekend's race at Mustang go to: www.dailysparkstribune.com then open up the sports. Scroll down and you should find it. The article will only be on the site for another day or so. And the photos I took at Mustang are on my site. Go to: www.lakemanphotos.photoreflect.com and look for Mustang 11/16/2008. You can even order prints from that site. Had a great time and see all of you in the New Year. Have a wonderful holiday season.

Hi Folks: Last week, just days before I was 30-days past knee surgery I visited my doctor. He was very pleased and I think the past two years of mountain bike riding is paying off. Today got new exercises and took my first steps without the leg brace, even though I used a walker or was on a slow moving treadmill. Now I can even pick my leg up in a forward motion, real progress. With some luck, and hard work on my part, I might be able to take my first steps, without that brace and no crutches sometime after Thanksgiving. Scary but it will be great and thanks to Jeff for all his help. Guess I'll have a lot to be thankful this year. And I want to give a special thanks for all of you that came up and asked how I was doing. Both at Stead and Fernley. It was very gratifying to say the least. Take care everyone and hope to see you at Mustang. Looks like the weather will be wonderful. Lakeman

I agree, if you quad racers want to keep being included, it will behoove you to start showing up at the races that will make room for you. See you at the finish line jump Tia, just not ready to hobble down to the step up. That will come next spring.

After I got out of physical therapy this morning (Thursday) I headed over to the Sierra Tower at Renown. He's not seeing visitors but met his dad and got the low down on Bob's condition. He'll recover but I can't see him riding for a while. So Robert, like I said in my note your dad gave you, best wishes buddy and a speedy recovery. Know it will take time but with some luck, we'll at least see you at some of the races, even if you're a spectator. Take care my friend and best wishes. Dan McGee - Daily Sparks Tribune

My photos are up on the website that I use. That is: www.lakemanphotos.photoreflect.com. Look for the Fernley 11-9-2008 entry and open it. You can browse the pictures and even order them off the site if you choose to. Had a ball and was nice to be back in the sand at Fernley once again. Next time I will be out of the leg brace and able to walk normally. Enjoy
