Running a bit behind but my photos from Sunday, 10-26, are finally on my website. You can see them at: www.lakemanphotos.photoreflect.com. Enjoy and prints can be ordered right from the site. See you all in Fernley.

With the increasing population in our part of the world this seems a good example of what is happening and coming to a street near you. I know there are few riders out there that make it bad for everyone but anyone that rides is going to be painted by that broad brush. You are just going to have to be more careful about where and when you ride around residential areas. Fortunately there are still areas like the Hungry Valley OHV that can be used freely - don't know for how long however. It's just part of what we're all going through and it will take an effort by all to keep it at bay. Good luck and don't rip down a street on a dirt bike - the deputies may not have a choice in what they can do with you.

Had surgery on my injured knee on the 9th, healing seems to be going well and the swelling is going down. Doc like what he was feeling when I saw him this past week. Now the PT part. Anyway want to thank all of you that came up and asked how I was doing. Pretty great to find that people care about you. Been a difficult month but I'm getting better. Now ready to go back to work. Will see all of you Sunday at Stead. Still need a cane for the uneven surfaces and leg will remain in the brace for at least two more weeks. Should have my photos from the Mustang MX on Saturday by Thursday or Wednesday evening. Remember you can see them at: www.lakemanphotos.photoreflect.com. Take care and thanks again.

Oops, I listed the race on Sunday when I did the column for the Sparks Tribune. Hope to be there as it will be my first motocross to cover since knee surgery. Will be planting myself by the finish line, need to still be careful as leg is in a brace for at least the next four weeks. Feels good however. See you all there!

Visited him when I went through pre-op for my knee on Wednesday. Glad to hear he's home as that will probably speed up the recovery time. Nice to sleep in your own bed. Best wishes Josh and the Morros clan.

Today (10-9) had knee surgery. Kind of stressful going in for me but if I ever wanted to walk normally again had to do this. Tendon to the quad muscle was ruptured. Last think I remembered was looking at the operating room ceiling then waking up in recovery. Boy did my leg hurt but above the knee. A male nurse told me they put on a bit tourniquet when they are operating and that's the source of the pain. Man was I glad to get those drugs they gave me. Had to stay later than normal as I had so many drugs in me the oxygen level would make a big drop every time I started to doze. Finally things righted themselves and I was released. Had some discussion about a wheel chair, can't use one that doesn't put my leg out straight so I got to practice with the crutches they gave me and walked to the car my niece brought. She was an angel today. Back home and on pain meds. I was told that if I drive using those I'm legally DUI so the car will be parked for a few days. And when I heard about the DUI all I could think was that I don't even drink!!!! I'm going to try and make it to the motocross at Mustang on the 19th but can't promise. Monday at the Tribune will be the test day as I try and wean myself off the pain meds. Hate taking drugs if I can don't have to. Brace on for the next six weeks then, what I think might be a scary moment, walking without a brace or cane. Did write a short article on what it is like to be suddenly disabled for the Daily Sparks Tribune. Should be posted in the next few days. Want to thank all those that sent along their best wishes. Now I really know what you guys and gals feel when you're injured. And how going cold turkey, in my case from my mountain bike, and can't ride. That really SUCKS! For me, three to five months before I can resume two wheeled action. Take care everybody and have a great season. Lakeman

Next time I'm going to use the longest zoom and stand back a lot more. Anybody got a Hummer I can use as a barrier? Or maybe one of those 200-400 zoom lenses Nikon loaned me at the Air Races. Thanks for all the kind words and yes, I'll be back. Can't give up on the love of one's life.

After hearing about Robert getting hurt and seeing many of you injured participating in the sport we all love this weekend it was my turn. Due to heavy dust, and I thought I was far enough away from the corner, I was hit during the MRANN event outside of Yerington. No one's real fault as neither of us could see the other until it was too late. After being flattened, by a glancing blow, I was on the ground and realized that my left leg wouldn't move. Not that gets your attention. The responders and medics were great as was the staff at the South Lyon County Medical Center. After four hours and X-rays, not to mention the attention of a really good lady doc, I came back to the race with an almost full length brace on my left leg. Getting into my small car must have been quite funny to those watching. Now will find a doc to see me today. Nothing appears broken but I might have torn ligaments. Don't know how long I'll be out of work. Still I can stand on the leg and with the help of a cane I had, actually get around although slowly. Now when I go to races I'll need to find a safe place to stand for the photos. So for those that have been injured, well I can say I feel you pain, even though it wasn't much. Guess I too have entered that group of motorcycle people that have been injured doing something we all love. Take care everyone and ride safe. I'll be hobbling along for the next little bit. Want to extend my best wishes for a speedy recovery to you Robert. I've told many that don't know that racing is a family sport and those in it are part of an extended family. Reading all these messages confirm this. Get well soon and hope to see you at least as a visitor to the track soon. Until then, take care and be sure you're fully healed before riding again. See you at the track RB!

Sadly the weather people might be right. Be sure to bring thermals, hot chocolate and plenty of fleece. Ah yes, spring time in Nevada where frost bite comes with the flowers.
